While Sub Teaching I noticed a book on the teachers shelf that intrigued me. Normally Dr. Seuss isn't a thing for me but today I saw something interesting. Seuss-isms! by Dr. Seuss. A guide to LIfe for those just starting out... and those already on their way.
This book has quotes from different Dr. Seuss books compiled in one. Life quotes that are really interesting to put into place. Quotes with a little zest and twist to them. I found a book by him that I had never heard of and will be reading I had trouble getting to Solla Sollew. I like this quote the best: But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready, you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with ME! I found this book interesting check it out sometime. I have been working pretty hard lately at trying to cut my stress level. My Dr informed me there is good stress as well as negative. Positive stress can be an issue Holidays, births, weddings etc. but it's the uncontrollable type of negative stress that kills me. If I could just.....is one of my favorite things to say about my stress relief but it isn't getting me anywhere. The only thing that will is stopping some of the negative things in my life. The book I have been reading has shown me that I need to say no more often and I need to work at finding ways deal with issues as they come up. let me tell you it's HARD!!! I found a quote by Mark Twain: If the first thing you do each morning is to eat a live frog, you can go through the day with the satisfaction of knowing that that is probably the worst thing that is going to happen to you all day long. I really like that 💡 idea! Get the hardest thing of the day over then the rest of the day looks easier. I try to do this most days but it gets really hard cause you want to start with the easiest. I'm sure this won't be my last post about stress. The book I have been reading (yes I'm still reading it) is such an incredible read for me at this time in my life. Again the book is Present over perfect. I keep finding myself telling people about it. It's funny because some of the people I'm telling either don't read or don't read this type of book but that doesn't stop me. I can't seem to not share. Changing up things in your life is a really difficult thing I have found. I have found so many things in this book that are helping me make these changes.
i started reading a new book yesterday. A friend recommended this book, The book is "Present over Perfect: Leaving behind frantic for a simpler, more soulful way of living by Shauna Niequist. I found a quote that is so true and awesome. "The very thing that makes you you, that makes you great, that makes you different from everyone else is also the thing that, unchecked, will ruin you." This sentence hit me as so true!!😉
I think I will be loving this book😁. Just had to share. QUEENIE☘️ One of the things I love to do is find uses for items that they would never have been used. I did this just the other day and am so thrilled 😁 with my decision. While working on Organization Summer project I decided to research an easier way for the process of laundry to get done and put away in our house. With so many of us it was becoming a crazy mess to get it done. I did get this process figured out and during this I had to get rid of one of my favorite pieces. It's a antique look piece advertising laundry soap a towel rod. I had been using it to hang laundry on in the old laundry set up. With redo it came down with no use in site I had planned on selling it grudgingly. It sat in my office all summer until eBay listing time finally came around. I started rethinking my decision walking around the house trying to find a new use for it when an idea 💡 struck me..... toilet roll holder!! Eureka!!!😀 It works so well. It holds 4 rolls at once. Everyone loves it!
Yeaterday was the 1st day of school for the kids. Frank is in his last year of middle school,Emily is in her last year of elementary school, Jed is in 2nd and Haiden's in 1st grade. Everyone had an awesome day!! They love their teachers. So glad they love school.
☘️☘️I began work on the boys room first thing. This area became known as the "bunkhouse" so named by my sister in law Alicia. It stuck! One wall is all bunk beds this leaves a bed open for company until Lem decides he is ready to move in with the boys. The opposite wall is a full wall storage unit to accommodate cubby storage containers which house the boys clothing, toys, blocks, etc. the TV and DVD/VCR area are the center point of the wall unit. We built these to fit, nothing fancy. The boys each have their own space in the unit for their clothing but toys are all grouped together for fast easy clean up. This room is really small so taking advantage of every nook and cranny was of utmost importance. Frank and I stripped the room down to nothing. we painted the room a gray color floor to ceiling. Then layed down a berber carpet (for easy wear and cleaning). After getting this done we assembled a new set of bunk beds (we already had one set), followed by installing the storage unit. I did the storage units in a grey blue, painted the door in the same color. Hung blue, grey and tan curtains.this room has a VERY small closet (good thing they are boys) I added a louvered closet door painted in the same blue grey color. returned their antiqued white desk. Then we had to organize. I did the clothing and Frank took care of the toys. It all came together really well. I had one problem what to use for tie backs for the curtains. I wanted something really unusual and fitting to the room. Once again Alicia saved the day. We were thrift store shopping and digging for some ideas when she came up with "old belts". We found 2 belts similiar but not exactly, they both have a western style buckle one even has turquoise on it, brown leather for both and presto tiebacks. The boys loved them and they are so easy.
I made each bunk area the boys "private space" they have their pictures or personal stuff hanging in their space. Frank has a pocket organizer at his head board with pockets to keep his Kindle and notebook to write in. And I added a LED neon "bright" light for him to read by. He loves it and gets to read after the younger boys are asleep without bothering them. The room came out better than I had planned. They love it and they are working on keeping it organized (easier said than done they are discovering) and clean. Queenie☘️ This spring I began working on plans to design our farmhouse to be more family user friendly. Our family had grown to 5 children and 2 adults so organization of all space was extremely important. So organization Summer became the nickname for the summer. I came up with a plan to 1st redo the boys bedroom since this was the most populated space. Organization Summer began!
Well here we are again. Summer is ending or at least summer vacation. This week begins "Back to school week." Where has summer gone???? Kids are pretty excited about returning to school. Many new things going on this year. Frank is playing football. Emilys last year in elementary, Franks last year in middle school. Me on the other hand isn't ready to go back. I still have so many projects to finish up. Do teachers ever finish up there summer projects and get to spend any time during the summer?? I'm only a sub yes pretty much full time but still need to get prepared for every day working. I tried to keep up to schedule but time just got away from me. I am happy however with what we did get done and the kids loved spending time at the pool and the zoo.
