☘️☘️I began work on the boys room first thing. This area became known as the "bunkhouse" so named by my sister in law Alicia. It stuck! One wall is all bunk beds this leaves a bed open for company until Lem decides he is ready to move in with the boys. The opposite wall is a full wall storage unit to accommodate cubby storage containers which house the boys clothing, toys, blocks, etc. the TV and DVD/VCR area are the center point of the wall unit. We built these to fit, nothing fancy. The boys each have their own space in the unit for their clothing but toys are all grouped together for fast easy clean up. This room is really small so taking advantage of every nook and cranny was of utmost importance. Frank and I stripped the room down to nothing. we painted the room a gray color floor to ceiling. Then layed down a berber carpet (for easy wear and cleaning). After getting this done we assembled a new set of bunk beds (we already had one set), followed by installing the storage unit. I did the storage units in a grey blue, painted the door in the same color. Hung blue, grey and tan curtains.this room has a VERY small closet (good thing they are boys) I added a louvered closet door painted in the same blue grey color. returned their antiqued white desk. Then we had to organize. I did the clothing and Frank took care of the toys. It all came together really well. I had one problem what to use for tie backs for the curtains. I wanted something really unusual and fitting to the room. Once again Alicia saved the day. We were thrift store shopping and digging for some ideas when she came up with "old belts". We found 2 belts similiar but not exactly, they both have a western style buckle one even has turquoise on it, brown leather for both and presto tiebacks. The boys loved them and they are so easy.
I made each bunk area the boys "private space" they have their pictures or personal stuff hanging in their space. Frank has a pocket organizer at his head board with pockets to keep his Kindle and notebook to write in. And I added a LED neon "bright" light for him to read by. He loves it and gets to read after the younger boys are asleep without bothering them.
The room came out better than I had planned. They love it and they are working on keeping it organized (easier said than done they are discovering) and clean.
