Substitute

I am a full time substitute teacher at our local school. I have been doing this for close to 8 years now. The idea was presented to me when my first husband became ill and I had to go to work. I became a substitute at the school but non-certified. They asked me if I had any college hours and I said no. So when my husband passed away I decided to give college a try and then I could substitute teach. I of course loved college. After I had accumulated enough college hours I decided it was time to apply. Thus my path as a substitute teacher began January 2010. It took me many years and a couple of schools later to get to where I was pretty much full time here. I left and went to school at another local school district since at that time our school had ALOT of subs. I really enjoyed my time there and learned alot. I decided it was a good idea to come back where my kids were attending school and be closer to home sinc during this time my mother had come to live with us. They were in more need of subs at this time. I now work most everyday school is in session if I want. I enjoy being a substitute. I don't limit myself to just one grade level or one "end" of the school or the other. I like the variety of being in pre-k one day and high school English the next. I have done a few stints as a "long term" sub but prefer to not stick to one place. I of course have had my favorite classes to teach in as most subs do but don't say "NO" to anything usually, LOL!!

I am wanted to add something about my substitute teaching to my blog so thought I would add in some tips occasionally and some funny quotes that I like about it.
Always remember I like my job!

I keep finding these awesome quotes from the book present over perfect.
Sometimes brave looks more like staying when you want to leave, telling the truth when all you want to do is change the subject.

Who likes Poetry??

So tell me Who likes Poetry?
I have never been one to read poetry. English and Writing has always been my favorite subject. I loved every part of it. Including writing Essays...yes I know ugh but they just are easy for me. Now that being said poetry was one that ...nope never got it...never understood it, that is until now. I have had an occasional poem that I thought was interesting but not really, really liked until now. While reading "Present over Perfect" she mentioned a poet that she liked reading her name is Mary Oliver. I "googled" her poetry loved it. Especially a poem titled "The Journey", this poem is about
the journey one takes through life in order to become an individual.
This poem I totally enjoyed reading especially at this point in my life. I am re-evaluating many parts of my life, mainly who I am as an individual. Sometimes we re-find ourselves later in life. I did this once already at around the age of 30. This is when I came 100% comfortable with who I am as person. That's kind of another blog post so I won't tarry there right now.
She has other poems that I skimmed over and will go back and read again slowly to get the understanding.
It's strange how sometimes we find things later in our life that we like that in the past never would have interested us. I think our "tastes" change over time.

New Book

While Sub Teaching I noticed a book on the teachers shelf that intrigued me. Normally Dr. Seuss isn't a thing for me but today I saw something interesting. Seuss-isms! by Dr. Seuss. A guide to LIfe for those just starting out... and those already on their way.
This book has quotes from different Dr. Seuss books compiled in one. Life quotes that are really interesting to put into place. Quotes with a little zest and twist to them.
I found a book by him that I had never heard of and will be reading I had trouble getting to Solla Sollew.
I like this quote the best: But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready, you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with ME!
I found this book interesting check it out sometime.
